The BBC’s live broadcast of Chelsea’s FA Cup quarter-final vs Leicester was marred by an unfortunate event.

Following Axel Disasi’s disastrous own goal, the Foxes have regained control of the game.

And the presenter missed it because he was preoccupied displaying a replay of the ball hitting the back of the net.

Chelsea had taken control of the match, leading 2-0 in the first half thanks to goals from Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer.

And it appeared that Chelsea would have a comfortable second half after taking control early on.

On commentary, Martin Keown said: ‘It’s just absurd. It’s a simple pass back to the custodian, and he nails it. The custodian is well out of his goal. Disasi, what’s he doing?

Robert Sanchez rushed out to soothe his defender, wrapping his arm around him.

The Spaniard’s attitude was good, and Keown is unclear if former Arsenal and England teammate David Seaman would have responded similarly. ‘There’s no actual concern with that one. He gets a little push, but there is so much weight on it that he only needs to wheel it back to the custodian.

‘I wouldn’t have gotten a kiss from David Seaman if I did that (after Sanchez kissed Disasi on the cheek after his own goal).’

The goal would have done nothing to boost Robert Sanchez’s confidence, as the ball bounced into the far corner and left him in no man’s land.

At halftime, former Chelsea striker Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink criticised the Spanish goalkeeper, saying he looked “a little (unnerved).” He hasn’t played in a long time, and he doesn’t play often.

‘He takes a long time when the ball returns to him. He goes into trouble and gets a little lucky.

‘Then on the next one, he does it again, and it becomes blocked. He needs to improve at that. He’s taking too much risk and spending too much time.

The own goal revived a Leicester side that had appeared defeated and went on to score a second.

Stephy Mavididi, an Arsenal youth academy player, moved in from the left side and sent a right-footed shot into the far corner.
