Eden Hazard names the only footballer who was better than him. The rest were not up to his standards. Would you agree?
Chelsea legend Eden Hazard has picked the only guy who outperformed him during his playing career.
In an interview with L’Equipe, Hazard stated, “Lionel Messi is perhaps the only player who is better than me. I enjoyed watching him when he was in Barcelona. I didn’t enjoy seeing him later, but he is the finest in history.
“It’s impossible to take the ball from him. Cristiano Ronaldo is a larger player than me, but in terms of pure football, I do not believe he is superior to me. Neymar, perhaps.”
When asked if he would have like to have Ronaldo’s mentality, Hazard said, “No. It would not have been me. No, not after practicing in a cold bath for an hour.
“Leave me alone, with my pals; we’ll go home, play cards, and drink beer. I play for two hours with my friends. Children in the garden. It was time for me to heal. “If I had been like Cristiano, I would have burned out.”
Hazard responded to accusations that he was overweight during his time at Real Madrid, saying, “With Chelsea, I had just finished one of the best seasons of my career.” I told myself, ‘Now that I’m at Real Madrid, this may be the last holiday I’ll be able to enjoy. And I let myself go, as I always do throughout the summer. I spent seven years in England without a Christmas break, giving everything, so having three or four weeks of vacation “don’t bother me” with barbecues and rosé wine. Then, in Madrid, things went awry, and that was it.”
“I wasn’t minding what I ate, but I didn’t eat hamburgers every day either. You cannot do it for 16 years. I didn’t consider it important. I’m a hedonist; I enjoy eating and drinking with my friends. Dieting is nonsense; it doesn’t work.
“If you want to play till you’re 40, that’s OK, but I knew I wouldn’t do that. “I always keep some champagne in my refrigerator.”
“They called me a lazy person. But I did not go 16 years without training. I was present during the small games and runs.
“It’s true that some mornings I arrived without a good night’s sleep or desire, and I let it show. “Don’t give me the ball; I won’t move within a square metre.”
When asked if Real Madrid was the perfect club for him, Hazard responded, “I’ve been a Zidane fan since I was a child.” The Bernabéu, often known as the white kit, possesses a unique appeal. Madrid is unique. Aside than that, I don’t think I fit in. It’s unlike me.
“It’s a bit of a’swaggering’ club, and I’m not into that. I also disliked the manner we played when compared to other clubs. But that was a dream. “I couldn’t have finished my career without coming here.
