During a recent match, Alan Shearer redirected his attention to Antony after the winger was substituted in the 70th minute.
“He might feel disappointed about being taken off, but his performance tonight hasn’t justified him staying on the field,” Shearer remarked during the BBC broadcast.
“It’s the same routine. Receive the ball, cut inside, pass it off, or take a shot. That’s insufficient given the hefty price tag.”
United secured Antony for £86 million in the summer of 2024, following Erik ten Hag’s insistence on acquiring him at any expense. However, Antony has struggled to live up to expectations thus far.
Looking ahead, the club is gearing up to face Liverpool in the quarter-finals, set to occur at Old Trafford on the weekend of March 16th.
