Carragher says this Chelsea star’s career is over after the explosive Manchester City match.
Jamie Carragher thinks Thiago Silva’s time at Chelsea is almost up after his younger teammates stole the show against Manchester City.
Silva left last Monday night’s game against Crystal Palace on a limp. He was ruled out for the trip to City, but he might be able to play in the Carabao Cup final.
Some fans will hope the 39-year-old doesn’t play against Liverpool, though, because Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill did a great job together at the Etihad.

Carragher named Disasi the game’s best player and compared the 25-year-old to Chelsea great John Terry because of how hard he worked.
Silva is one of the best defenders of his age, and he has been a great player for Chelsea since he moved there in 2020. He was even named the club’s Player of the Year last year.
But he hasn’t looked 100% this season, but Mauricio Pochettino has kept relying on him, and the Brazilian has played almost every minute of the Premier League season.
But Carragher, a former player for Liverpool, thinks his time is up. He told Sky Sports, “Last couple of big away games going back to Aston Villa in the [FA] Cup and here today when Thiago Silva wasn’t involved.”
“He’s been great for Chelsea since he joined.” He’s getting old, though, and his deal ends at the end of the season. Also, when you see Disasi and Colwill together…
“It will be hard for Thiago Silva to get back into the team until the end of the season, unless someone gets hurt.”
“Chelsea is in the cup final, but I think they need to start planning for the future.” After the cup final, there’s not much left to play for.
When you look at those two together and maybe another young centre back in the team, you have to think that Thiago Silva’s time at Chelsea is over.
Some of Chelsea’s other young, potential centre backs are Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana. This means that they will have plenty of options if Silva leaves.
There has been a lot of talk about the veteran’s future, especially since his wife Belle attacked Pochettino on social media after the 4-2 loss to Wolves. She later said she was sorry for what she said.
