‘I don’t care’ – Pep Guardiola makes title claim as Liverpool faces Man City and Arsenal fight
All three of the teams in the running for the Premier League title won this weekend, making the end of the season look very exciting. The Reds were eight points ahead before they lost to Arsenal last weekend. Now there are only two points between the top three teams.
After beating Everton in the early game on Saturday, Manchester City briefly held the top spot. However, Liverpool replied with a 3-1 win over Burnley at Anfield. But Arsenal beat West Ham by six goals at the London Stadium to get the win over the weekend.
City is now the favourite to keep the title this season, and the fact that both Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne are back to full health has helped them. Haaland got two goals against Everton. De Bruyne set him up for the second goal.
But Pep Guardiola says they won’t make it easy for City to win the title. He thinks Liverpool and Arsenal will still be able to finish the season on top. He told talkSPORT, “I don’t care,” when asked how scary it was for City’s enemies that Haaland and De Bruyne were back. It doesn’t matter to me how scary it is for them. Because I know some of my coworkers aren’t scared at all.
“Okay, De Bruyne and Haaland make us stronger, but as I said before, we can still play well.” People like these, though, can help you win games. Right foot, first touch, and the first goal is not easy at all. That’s why Erling is the best in the box.
On March 10, Liverpool will play City again at Anfield. This game could be very important in the race for the title. Plus, the winner still has to play Arsenal at the Etihad.
Burnley and Liverpool had a tough game on Saturday. The game was tied at halftime, but goals from Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez gave Liverpool an important three points. After the game, Klopp said that Tottenham and Aston Villa were also in the running, even though Unai Emery’s team lost to Manchester United on Sunday.
“It’s not just the three points [against Burnley],” he said. It’s not always possible to be sure of progress. We played great against Chelsea nine days ago, but then we lost to Arsenal. There’s always something new to learn. Fight through it if it doesn’t click right away. The boys fought hard and got three points, even though it was really hard.
