Frank Leboeuf has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to sit Thiago Silva for Chelsea’s FA Cup game against Aston Villa on Wednesday was unrelated to the player’s wife’s statements.

Silva was relegated to the bench just days after his wife appeared to push for Pochettino’s dismissal following Chelsea’s Premier League losses to Liverpool and Wolves.

Pochettino stated before the 3-1 victory at Villa Park that the choice was merely tactical, and Leboeuf appears to agree.
