Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has already decided to take one of the biggest jobs in the world
Jurgen Klopp might be ready to return to management after leaving Liverpool this summer, but he might have a certain squad in mind.
The 56-year-old is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the current season after nine years on Merseyside. During that time, he has led Liverpool to multiple domestic awards, a sixth Champions League, and a league championship.
According to journalist Gerard Romero, even though Klopp admitted that he needs time off from sports and that his energy is running low, the German manager would press for a delay in his intended leave of absence so that he could get back to the dugout for a specific team sooner rather than later.
The Spaniard stated that Klopp might not be able to decline the opportunity to lead La Liga giants considering his alleged prior connections with Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona.
With just three clubs under his management during his career, Klopp would probably wait for the right chance and team to rejoin; Barcelona is now a viable option given that current manager Xavi Hernandez has announced he will be leaving at the end of the current campaign.
The Spanish powerhouses sit eight points behind league leaders Real Madrid this season, despite winning La Liga the season before, a fact that the legendary Barca player acknowledged, along with Klopp.
The 44-year-old claimed, “You always feel like you’re not valued, you’re mistreated—that’s just the way the club operates.” From a mental health perspective, it’s also difficult. I’m a pretty upbeat person, but eventually you understand there’s no use in being around when your energy keeps draining.
Liverpool is currently considering former player Xabi Alonso, who oversees Bayer Leverkusen, as a potential replacement for Klopp. Sporting coach Ruben Amorim and Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi are among names connected to the Anfield position.
