According to recent reports, David de Gea declined an offer to join a Premier League club during the January transfer window.

The Spanish custodian, who left Manchester United last summer after 12 years there, is currently without a club. Despite being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, De Gea has yet to finalise the deal.

Nottingham Forest attempted to gain the services of the seasoned shot-stopper.

The Championship team attempted to persuade De Gea of the advantages of playing regular football for them till the end of the season. However, the 33-year-old turned down their’short-term’ offer, preferring to pursue other choices.

In addition to pursuing De Gea, Forest asked about Aaron Ramsdale’s availability at Arsenal.

Ramsdale, who has lost his starting spot to David Raya, was a target for Forest until they signed Matz Sels from Strasbourg.

The Belgian custodian moved to the City Ground for £5.1 million on deadline day, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract.

With Sels’ acquisition, Forest now has a custodian pool that includes Matt Turner, Wayne Hennessey, and Odysseas Vlachodimos.

De Gea’s rejection of their offer means he is still looking for a new club. Despite the fact that the transfer window has closed, the Spaniard is still a free agent and can sign with a team outside of it.

De Gea appeared in 545 games across all competitions throughout his stellar career with Manchester United.

He contributed significantly to the club’s success, helping it win the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Europa League. He also gained 45 caps for Spain’s national team.
