Chelsea and Manchester City are two of the teams keeping an eye on Alphonso Davies’ contract position at Bayern Munich.
The Canadian left back’s current contract is set to end in the summer of 2025, and there have been no progress in talks to extend it.
Davies lost his starting spot in Thomas Tuchel’s team to Raphael Guerreiro, and there are worries that the story is now hurting how well he plays on the pitch. Nedal Huoseh, the 23-year-old’s lawyer, has since said that his client is now fully focused on Bayern, who plan to hold more talks in the coming weeks to find a solution.
It is thought that their most recent offer will pay them about £8.5 million a year. According to sources in Germany, Davies has been asking for as much as £11 million. This means that there is probably still some negotiation to do before a deal is made.
Real Madrid is also interested, though, as they are planning a summer move swoop and have named Davies as one of their top targets along with Kylian Mbappe.
Davies is thought to be a better option for Real Madrid than Ferland Mendy, who could be shipped off at the end of the season. But if Bayern can’t agree on a new deal for Davies before the end of the season, Chelsea and City could also be in the running.
If that happens, the Bavarian giants will have to think about stable offers for the fast starlet because his contract ends on July 1.
Chelsea wants to get a new left back in the summer to compete with Ben Chilwell, since Levi Colwill is set to replace Thiago Silva in the middle of the defence. However, they might not go after Davies if he wants to keep his big salary at Bayern.

After his loan with Borussia Dortmund, Ian Maatsen’s future will be looked at again, and Marc Cucurella could also be sold. Bayern thought they had a good deal with Davies on a new contract extension since the spring of 2017, but the matter got complicated and was later put aside.
When asked earlier this week about dropping Davies to the bench, Tuchel said, “”Phonzy” is a very nice and sensitive person. He is hard on himself, and I believe that the situation is stopping him more than it is helping him.
