DONE DEAL ✅Chelsea have just ANNOUNCED the signing of £18million Newscastle player in Shocking scene this evening-medicals has been booked player will arrive in London Two years contract signed

Wilson’s future has been increasingly uncertain this month, as Newcastle has been compelled to shed players in order to comply with Premier League profit and sustainability regulations.

Newcastle have spent more than £400 million on new signings since the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund took over the club in 2021, and Wilson, along with Miguel Almiron, Kieran Trippier, and Jamaal Lascelles, has been linked with a January exit as the Magpies look to balance the books.

Newcastle are believed to be willing to sell the 31-year-old for as cheap as £18 million, putting their Premier League opponents on alert for a potential cut-price deal.

Wilson has established himself as one of England’s most consistent and sought-after goal scorers in recent seasons, with Chelsea reportedly showing a serious interest in him.

According to reports this week, Arsenal and Manchester United are also keeping an eye on developments as they scout the market for attacking reinforcements, with both clubs known to be longtime admirers of the England international.

‘This has been an odd one. When asked about the allegations surrounding Wilson at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Howe told reporters that there was a lot of speculation, much of it baseless.

‘From our perspective, he is an integral element of what we do. We’re desperate to get our two strikers back to full fitness.

‘He’s getting close to returning from injury and appears to be doing well. He is getting there.

‘No part of me wants to lose him.’

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe looks on.
Howe hopes to keep Wilson this January.
The Newcastle manager continued, ‘In every conversation, he’s completely devoted. No part of him is looking away.

‘He has huge ambitions, and we want to keep him here. But certain things are beyond our control.

‘The club must act in its long-term interests. Let us see what occurs.

Wilson has also piqued the curiosity of European clubs such as AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, who are interested in signing the former Coventry City attacker.

Wilson, who has nine England caps, moved from Bournemouth to St James’ Park in 2020 and has 46 goals in 102 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle.

Back in September, Wilson signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Newcastle until 2025.

During his press conference, Howe also addressed rumours about Trippier’s future, emphasising that the England international has never sought to leave the club, despite persistent rumours linking the full-back to Bayern Munich.

‘A few thoughts on Kieran’s circumstance. We hope he stays, and we are convinced he will be a part of our long-term plans,’ he said.

‘But, to be clear, he has never begged to leave or even questioned his future here.

‘We’ve had chats in the last week, and they’ve all been about Newcastle. It is critical that I make this clear. His loyalty to Newcastle should not be questioned.
