Pep Guardiola has finally makes defiant promise to Manchester City and is set to leave the Club this season and his replacement has been named

Michael Owen has indicated that Pep Guardiola’s replacement at Manchester City may be someone with whom he has previously competed in the Premier League.

The Catalan coach has overseen Manchester City’s most successful period since joining the club following a similarly successful spell at Bayern Munich, culminating in the most historic single campaign in the history of any English club.

City’s 2022/23 season, and the full 2023 calendar year, saw the club win five trophies in the English, European, and worldwide games, including a third consecutive Premier League title and a first-ever UEFA Champions League title.

However, some are wondering what is left for Pep Guardiola and his players to accomplish, and whether the new set of historic victories marks the beginning of the end for the Catalan icon, whose current Etihad contract expires at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

According to one name in the game, Roberto De Zerbi, a manager who is highly regarded by Pep Guardiola, could emerge as a candidate for the current Etihad Stadium managerial role.

Speaking to the Premier League this week, Michael Owen acknowledged that Manchester City might be one of the clubs interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion’s coach when Pep Guardiola leaves the Etihad Stadium.

“If a big club loses their manager, if they part ways, someone like Pep Guardiola, I’m sure that people will be looking at him in terms of their next one,” he said.

“Brighton, in general, does not miss out on signings or managers in many ways; their previous couple of managers have also been great.

“So I just think that they do so much homework, so much work in general in terms of recruitment, and you know what, they’ll have the next man in place as well.”

Pep Guardiola has faced Roberto De Zerbi three times in his management career, defeating him twice and drawing once, most recently winning 2-1 in a Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium.
