Coming from Fabrizio Romano this morning Manchester City is set to Sign Football Freeagen who has 21 goals involvement this season and is now a free agent
Despite agency concerns, Manchester City remains focused on signing a 20-goal player on a free transfer.
Manchester City are still interested in signing Matija Popovic on a free transfer, despite agency concerns with AC Milan.
That is according to Christian Falk, Head of Football at BILD.
So, what’s the latest with Manchester City and Matija Popovic? Let us have a look.
Manchester City still wants Matija Popovic.
Txiki Begiristain appeared to have passed up on the Serbian wonderkid as AC Milan drew in on a deal.
However, according to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato, AC Milan was dissatisfied with how Popovic’s representatives behaved as an agreement approached, resulting in the transaction falling through.
The reputable writer wrote: “Breaking – The negotiations between Milan and Popovic’s agents are still stalled. The club has been hesitant to accommodate the entourage’s requirements. Matija wants to wear Rossoneri, but it isn’t enough.”
MORE MAN CITY STORIES
According to Falk, AC Milan is no longer at the table, but Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Manchester City have joined the debate.
Popovic, who has been compared to Michu, is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising prospects, having scored 20 goals in 24 Kadetska Liga matches in the 2022/23 season before refusing a new deal with Partizan.
Manchester City has time.
Crucially, Manchester City do not need to complete a deal for Popovic before the transfer deadline.
The 18-year-old is now a free agent after his contract with Partizan expired, which means he can join a new club outside of the transfer window.

Of course, time is of the importance as Napoli and Bayern Munich want to beat Manchester City to the Serbia U17 international’s signature.
There is also a potential that AC Milan will re-enter the scene if the Italian giants eventually reach an agreement with the teenager’s representation.
However, if Manchester City and Popovic can strike a verbal agreement, Begiristain will be able to take his time settling the lesser aspects, as there will be no timetable to meet.
