West Ham United are reportedly open to selling previous Manchester City target to Pep Guardiola for £30M but City are offering £20m

West Ham United are reportedly open to selling Nayef Aguerd, a former Manchester City target, during the January transfer window.

The Manchester club was connected with a move for the Moroccan centre-half in September, when it was stated that the Citizens and Liverpool both admired him.

Despite being linked with a summer move for the Hammers star, it has now been stated that they may not have to wait until the end of the season to sign him.

According to a recent Evening Standard story, the east London club is open to bids for Aguerd and may be willing to let him go this month if a reasonable offer comes in and they can recruit a replacement.

West Ham paid £30 million to sign the centre-back from Rennes during the summer transfer window in 2022.

Since then, the 27-year-old has made 51 appearances for the Hammers in all competitions, scoring four goals along the road.

David Moyes described Aguerd as a “stylish” player with good ball control about a year ago.

In terms of off-the-ball output, Kurt Zouma (82) is the only West Ham player with more clearances in the Premier League this season than the Moroccan international (70).

Even though Pep Guardiola already has a healthy number of defenders in his squad, the fact that City has only kept five clean sheets in the Premier League this season suggests that Aguerd’s possible arrival this month would add more competition for a place in the team and make the current Blues defenders work harder.

Taking all of this into consideration, we believe it may be worthwhile for City to make an offer to the Hammers this month to see what type of sum they might need to secure a move for Aguerd if they believe he might be a helpful addition to the squad.
