Jackson appears to be having to adjust to the higher tiers of the Premier League, but he has scored seven league goals this season, which Pochettino believes is a fair haul for the 22-year-old in his debut season in England.
‘When you compare Jackson, it is about expectations; when you look at other attackers his age and the goals they scored, he is performing,’ stated Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
‘We can’t hold it against him.’
Pochettino did have one bright spot on another bleak day as Blues manager, as Christopher Nkunku made his Premier League debut and scored late on.
‘I’m extremely happy to see Nkunku score because it shows how vital he can be for us,’ Pochettino remarked. ‘We can’t put too much pressure on him because he’s been out for a long time, and that’s why he came in after 60 minutes – to help ease him in.
‘He’s a quality player who can score goals and we are glad he did that today, although of course we are disappointed not to win the game.
