Manchester City Midfielder Kalvin Phillips will become the most HATED player after he’s set to complete shock transfer to Premier League Rivals!
Juventus have started preliminary conversations with Manchester City about a January loan deal for Kalvin Phillips, and they are also interested in Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Juventus will be looking for a new midfielder next month and have enquired about several targets, including Phillips and Hojbejrg.
Sky Sports News understands that City would prefer a permanent sale for Phillips after putting him on the market.
However, Phillips’ salary of about £7 million per year – or £135,000 per week – are difficult for another team to match in the middle of the season, with Financial Fair Play at the forefront of directors’ thoughts.
Phillips has battled for consistent first-team minutes since joining from Leeds for £42 million in the summer of 2022, and Pep Guardiola recently stated he could go while also apologising to the player for his lack of playing time.
Sky Sports News understands that City are seeking for defensive midfield cover in preparation for Phillips’ exit and would prefer a young, homegrown option.
Meanwhile, Hojbejrg has fallen out of favour at Tottenham, and the club will have to make a choice if they receive an appealing offer for the Denmark international, given that they will also lose Yves Bissouma to AFCON during the window. They will very definitely want a replacement on hand.
Although Manchester United do not anticipate to bring in players in January, Hojbjerg was on their list in the summer behind Sofyan Amrabat, who they signed from Fiorentina, and Hojbjerg may come back into their consideration if an offer for Casemiro is too good to refuse down.
Hojbjerg is also said to be attracting interest from other clubs in England and Italy, including Napoli.
Meanwhile, Phillips is thought to be on Newcastle’s January transfer list.
The Magpies, on the other hand, would want to loan him out because they are searching for a defensive-midfielder to replace the suspended Sandro Tonali.
They must also consider how to stay within their Financial Fair Play budget.
