Some important Newcastle United players might not be able to play on Tuesday when they play Chelsea in the League Cup quarterfinals. Manager Eddie Howe is trying to put together the best team possible.
Howe told reporters on Monday that even though scans didn’t show anything “too bad” with Fabian Schar and Joelinton, who were hurt in Newcastle’s win over Fulham on Sunday, it wasn’t a sure thing.
He talked about Schar and said, “To miss Fabby would be a big blow.”
Moving Forward Isak also missed Sunday’s game because of a groyne injury, but Howe said it wasn’t too bad. “He needs careful care so he doesn’t miss six or seven weeks of work.” “We need to be careful, but he has a chance for tomorrow,” the boss said.
But Newcastle got a big help when centre back Sven Botman came back from a three-month knee injury.
