When no Premier League clubs want to hire you following a particularly difficult period at a club – in this case, Chelsea – you know it’s time to extend your horizons.
Indeed, Frank Lampard isn’t thought to have had any offers from English Championship clubs, placing his managerial abilities – or lack thereof – front and centre.
To that end, the former Blues great and England stalwart is thinking about returning to MLS.
He has experience there after playing for New York City near the conclusion of his career, and he is now considered one of the favourites to become the new manager of Charlotte FC, according to The Athletic (subscription required).
His second spell as manager of the west Londoners does not make for interesting reading, but after some contemplation and time away from the game, it’s apparent that Lampard is ready to try to prove the critics wrong once more.
