VERY SAD Reece James news has been announced this morning as Chelsea Manager Mauricio Pochettino has stripped him off the Captain Batch and the new Captain has been named

Chelsea confirms new Mauricio Pochettino captain decision against Manchester United for the ‘next John Terry’.

Chelsea have revealed that defender Levi Colwill will captain the team against Manchester United on Wednesday evening at Old Trafford. It follows the misunderstanding about who will wear the armband for a big tie between the two sides.

Reece James was chosen club captain earlier this year, but injury concerns have limited his time in that role so far this season. His return from injury has seen him assume that duty, although a recent red card against Newcastle has raised worries about him.

Conor Gallagher was named captain as his replacement, but he was also sent off, giving Pochettino two captains sent off in as many games. This has raised concerns about whether the west London club has a discipline problem, given they also have the most yellow cards in the Premier League.

Many expected James to return to right-back and lead his team against Manchester United on Wednesday, following his one-game suspension. However, the England international was only named to the bench as Pochettino seeks to safeguard him from further injury.

With Gallagher suspended, a significant choice had to be taken on who would wear the armband. The original Chelsea lineup graphic had Raheem Sterling in that position, but they later clarified that it would be Colwill.

Since returning from a loan spell at Brighton last season, the academy graduate has made an impression at center-back. Comparisons have begun, with some claiming he may be the “next John Terry” based on his skill set and ascension up the ranks.

Colwill then took the number 26 jersey at Chelsea, which was previously worn by Terry, and his recent captaincy only brings him one step closer to matching the former defender’s achievements. It remains to be seen how he will approach that assignment, but he clearly suits the role of a leader.
