“I can’t continue to be on a bench for Seven Straight game and I haven’t getting a chance to play, Pep Guardiola keeps saying he’s preserving me for Big games when I can’t even start against LIVERPOOL- Graeme Souness says 28-year-old Man City player is ‘going to leave’ in January

Graeme Souness believes Jack Grealish should start thinking about his future at Manchester City.

After helping City win the treble last season, the Englishman has only started nine games this season and has failed to score a goal for the club.

Despite only being in his third season with the Manchester club, one pundit believes the 28-year-old should rethink whether or not to stay with the treble champions.

Souness believes Grealish should think about his future with the club.
Souness had this to say about Grealish and his current situation at City in his latest Daily Mail column.

“Jack Grealish could not have played in any of the teams I managed at Liverpool,” he claimed. It would not have been acceptable with the way he plays. He takes too many touches and fails to grasp the big picture early on, slowing the squad down.

“To put it another way, I understand why Pep Guardiola chose Jeremy Doku ahead of him for Manchester City.” Grealish has become exceedingly predictable. He sends his fullback down the field before checking inside and going square. There is no threat and no ultimate result. He has not scored in his last 30 club and country appearances and has only two assists this season, so there you have it. He’s a striker!

MORE MAN CITY NEWS “Ask ten full-backs if they’d rather play against Doku or Grealish, and I think Grealish wins every time.” Pace and directness are disliked by defenders. The way things are now, dangling a leg is a punishment. Grealish isn’t trying to get past defenders.

“He’s at a crossroads in his City career, in my opinion.” Doku is 21 years old and only getting better. Jack is 28 years old. He needs to examine himself closely. He ought to be in his prime. You have the knowledge and are physically and psychologically stronger between the ages of 26 and 30. He’s not going to get any better. This should be his opportunity.

“So, if I were him, I’d be concerned.” I’d sit in front of the manager and ask, “How do you see it for me?” I’ve won all of these trophies with you, but the new guy is the man in my position.’

“With the Euros approaching and the World Cup following, he cannot afford to be a bench player.” Only he knows if he wants to be that. It’s not something I could have put up with. “I wanted to start every game, and if I was fit, I did.”

Grealish has made 103 appearances for City in all competitions since joining from Aston Villa in a £100 million move in 2021. He has scored 11 goals and provided 17 assists.

Even though the 28-year-old does not have the same attacking numbers as Doku, the fact that Guardiola has chosen Grealish to start in big league games against Newcastle United and Manchester United, as well as four of their five Champions League group games, demonstrates that he is a vital member of the squad.

In response to Souness’ suggestion that Grealish consider his future at City, we believe that the best thing the winger can do is enjoy the competition Doku has provided for him in terms of having a place in the team and do everything he can to deliver on the pitch when given the chance.
