Piers Morgan yelled that VAR is “wrecking football” after Brentford’s goal against Arsenal was called back.

They thought they had broken the tie when Leandro Trossard headed the ball home near the end of the first half. The star player, Bukayo Saka, whipped the ball into the Brentford penalty area, where Gabriel Jesus met it. The Brazilian could only head it straight at the goalie, Mark Flekken.

The ball was blocked by Flekken, but only as far as Trossard. The Belgian made no mistake from the spot. But after VAR looked at it, the goal was called off for offside, which made the Gunners very angry.

VAR replays showed that Trossard’s toe was just a few inches ahead of Jesus’s when he headed the ball into the goal. The Belgian winger then scored from the rebound.

This meant that the Gunners went into the break tied, and there was more pressure on them to score again in the second half. Morgan, a loud Arsenal fan, couldn’t help but rant about VAR on X, which used to be called Twitter.

Morgan wrote, “FFS… VAR destroying football once more.” I really dislike it.”

There were times when many Arsenal fans agreed with the rules of the game. However, Morgan and other fans tweeted, “VAR hates Arsenal” and “VAR wrecking football yet again.”

Others said, “Var is a liar, pass it on,” and “What a joke.”

The fans in north London were nervous because their team almost lost in the second half, but Oleksandr Zinchenko blocked the shot on the line. But Kai Havertz, a late substitute, saved them in the 89th minute by heading in another beautiful Saka cross to seal all three points.
