Mauricio Pochettino said he was “disappointed” that Reece James got a red card, but he didn’t let himself blame his captain too much for how badly Tottenham played against Newcastle today.
“This kind of thing happens in football,” the coach said.
He said again that he was “disappointed,” but Chelsea “need to accept” the red card and the result and move on.
The cards were so textbook-like that we don’t think he was talking about them. The only thing that can really make him sad is when his own player makes a mistake.
Pochettino knows that he can’t really blame his leader. It’s too late to fix the mistake in public. James knew he had a mare as soon as he left.
