Jeremy Doku did not perform well for Manchester City during their 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday, according to Craig Burley.

The analyst on ESPN FC claimed that Doku had a rare off day and that his decision-making was far from optimal.

For the most part, Glenn Murray has expressed his enthusiasm for the Belgian star upon his arrival at Etihad Stadium, saying that it is because of players like him that he watches football in the first place.

However, it appears that the 21-year-old has been receiving criticism for his performance against Klopp and company.

While some think the £55.5 million (Sky Sports) man was electrifying as usual, others think his lack of a finished product and poor decision-making made his performance unpleasant to watch.

Craig Burley concurs with the latter, stating that he thinks Jeremy Doku, a speedster for Manchester City, lied to fool Liverpool.

After Manchester City lost two games at home, Craig Burley said that Jeremy Doku’s strategy against Liverpool was similar to playing a lesser team.

“And Frank [Leboeuf] is correct; they have a few guys on his side, but there are two sides to every story. Doku, for example, scored and assisted on a few goals in a recent game—I think it was Burnley at home, but I’m not sure which team it was. It was Bournemouth; he was in on everything. It resembled his ball.

“I was telling you that he was trying to do too much, taking too many touches, there was an early pass on but he’s trying a stepover or a drop of the shoulder. It almost felt like he took that onto this field today in the biggest game in England today.” And he will come to understand that as he goes along.

He said, “These things are wonderful when you’re beating a defender, but you have to play it if there’s a better ball on the opposite side of a midfielder or a backline, or if it’s on earlier, quicker, or better. He also seemed to want to beat everyone today.

“That final product, he made some pretty bad decisions in the final third. I’m not saying Liverpool played him well.”

It is unjust to Jeremy Doku.
Even if Jeremy Doku’s last ball against Liverpool wasn’t the finest, Craig Burley was correct to call out the lack of quality in his play, but Doku was still a highlight for Manchester City.

The extremely skilled player could dribble the ball brilliantly most of the time, but occasionally he was just doubled up.

Nevertheless, Doku was still able to finish off opponents, whether they were on the left side or further in the centre.

The young player even generated a few opportunities that players like Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez chose not to utilise.

Even though Jeremy Doku wasn’t perfect all the time, he held tall against one of the Sky Blues’ title contenders, which is a very positive sign.
