Reports suggest that Atletico Madrid’s outstanding transfer interest for Manchester City’s star striker Julian Alvarez this summer might be cause for concern.
With an outstanding 54 appearances in all competitions, the 24-year-old delighted in his most successful campaign to date in a Manchester City shirt during the just finished 2023/24 season.
Alvarez scored 19 goals and registered a further 13 assists during that period; Pep Guardiola also made extensive use of him in a variety of roles throughout the midfield and forward lines during a difficult personnel season.

While the La Liga giants are aware that City “will not be simple to deal with,” it is said that the Argentina international forward is the club’s “biggest ambition” this summer and as such there have already been “approaches.”
The Manchester City striker knowing of Atlético Madrid’s interest through Rodrigo De Paul, Nahuel Molina, and Angel Correa is also working among players connected to Alvarez, according to the story.

Alvarez has been a tremendous success in his early campaigns in the English and European game since joining Manchester City in the summer of 2022 after completing an agreement in the January before.
Two of Manchester City’s Argentine greats have already shown striking parallels: Alvarez’s high-pressing and work rate likened to Carlos Tevez, and his eye for goal to the all-time top goalscorer Sergio Aguero.
Alvarez has also had plenty of trophies; he won the Premier League in both seasons and claimed a record Treble during his inaugural season including the UEFA Champions League.
Although Manchester City is still somewhat unlikely to be receptive to a move for Alvarez, their policy is that should players exhibit a desire in leaving the team, they would not interfere if the offer fulfills their values.
Although Julian Alvarez’s worth to Manchester City is not known for now, his advantageous contractual condition will surely help those in recruitment roles at the Etihad Stadium.
