“He will never start for Chelsea again not when am still Chelsea manager except am Sacked”-Mauricio Pochettino has blamed this Chelsea players for ‘causing him the Loose over Brentford after Dominating the game
‘What was the matter with him?’ Joe Cole doubts Chelsea’s choice to sell Romelu Lukaku as the Blues’ scoring drought continues against Brentford.
Joe Cole has questioned Chelsea’s decision to let Romelu Lukaku leave the club as their goal-scoring struggles persisted against Brentford at home.
The Blues were defeated 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, ending their four-game unbeaten streak.
Chelsea has 13 goals in 10 league games this season, with Nicolas Jackson leading the line to little effect against the Bees.
With Armando Broja as their only other option up front, Chelsea may want to bring in another striker in January, despite spending over £1 billion on transfers since the club’s acquisition last year.
Former Chelsea player Cole believes the club had a trustworthy option at their disposal in the summer who was given the door. Napoli star Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney are among the few choices who could be available mid-season.
Lukaku returned to Italy in August, joining Roma on a season-long loan after rejoining Chelsea in a £97 million transfer in 2021.
The Belgian has eight goals in ten games for the Giallorossi, leaving Cole perplexed by some of the decisions made in west London.
‘You hear all the buzzwords around the club, but at the end of the day, we can’t score goals,’ says the manager. Cole revealed to TNT Sport.
‘With Romelu Lukaku, despite his flaws, he was in the door. He was a success at Inter Milan, he scored goals for Everton and West Brom in the United Kingdom; why couldn’t he score goals for Chelsea? What was the matter with him?
He is now scoring goals for Roma. So we must examine inward to see what is wrong with this club right now.
‘I have nothing but praise for the manager. I don’t blame the players since he and his staff are doing everything they can. They are all elite athletes.
‘The squad is uneven, but there is something fundamentally wrong with the club right now.’
