Brian Horton, the former manager of Manchester City, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Brian Horton, a renowned player for Brighton and Hove Albion, a team he later returned to manage, as well as managing Manchester City in the 1990s, has revealed he has prostate cancer.
Horton, 74, found out about his diagnosis a month after coming in for a check-up in April.
Because of his age, a friend supposedly advised him to get checked for prostate cancer, which was clearly sound advice.
“They discovered I had it, and it was very small,” Horton explained to Johnny Cantor of BBC Radio Susse.
Hednesford Town, Port Vale, Brighton, Luton Town, and Hull City were among the clubs he played for.
During his time at Luton, he helped the Hatters stay up on the final day of the 1982/83 season at Man City, with Raddy Antic scoring the winning goal four minutes from time, sparking memorable scenes of celebration that included manager David Pleat bouncing across the Maine Road turf and heading straight for his captain, Horton.
From 1993 to 1995, he was manager of Manchester City, as well as Hull, Brighton, Oxford United, Huddersfield Town, Port Vale, and Macclesfield Town.
