Manchester UnitedMan Utd fans urge club to change their plans after witnessing ‘a superstar in the making’ during game against ASEAN All-Stars

It was a night to forget for Ruben Amorim and his Manchester United squad as they endured a disappointing defeat against the ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia. Despite the underwhelming performance, fans managed to find a silver lining in the form of a promising young talent.
The match, held at the 84,000-seat Bukit Jalil National Stadium, marked the beginning of United’s much-anticipated off-season tour. Covering nearly 7,000 miles across Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, the tour is expected to bring in around £8 million for the club—revenue that could help them stay within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.
Amorim included a mix of senior players and emerging talents in his 32-man squad, with several academy players such as Tyler Fletcher, Jack Moorhouse, Jim Thwaites, and Shea Lacey making the trip. However, it was 19-year-old Sekou Kone who truly stood out. Making his first senior appearance since joining United last August for around £1 million plus add-ons, the Malian defensive midfielder impressed with his composure and ball-handling skills.
Though reports suggest Kone may be loaned out to FC Lausanne-Sport, a club also under INEOS ownership, many fans believe he deserves to remain with the first team. Their reactions on social media reflected strong support for the young midfielder’s continued presence at Old Trafford. One fan insisted Kone “is going to be a superstar” and should be integrated into the senior squad immediately. Another questioned the need for a loan, describing him as “quality.” A third praised the scouting and transfer teams for identifying such a talent, while others simply called him a “baller” and expressed excitement about his future.
Despite Kone’s standout debut, United were unable to avoid a 1-0 loss. Myanmar’s national team captain, Maung Maung Lwin, scored the decisive goal in the 71st minute, sealing a frustrating result for Amorim’s men.
