The only way Phillips could benefit Arsenal’s midfield is if Arteta can help him regain his Leeds United and England Euro 2020 form.
There have been allegations of poor discipline, particularly about his level of fitness, so he would undoubtedly be a dangerous addition.
It remains to be seen if City would trade another player to Arsenal, but we will find out quickly since the January transfer market opens earlier than we may anticipate.
