Pep Guardiola sends Jack Grealish Man City warning as he drops Rodri replacement hint

The loss to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup is no longer on Manchester City’s mind. Instead, they are focused on Wolverhampton Wanderers.

This season, the Blues have been playing well. Their loss to the Magpies was their first since they lost the Community Shield to Arsenal. Pep Guardiola’s team has never lost in the Premier League, so when they go to the West Midlands on Saturday afternoon, they will be big favorites.

But Guardiola will want his City team not to get too comfortable when they play Wolves, who are struggling near the bottom of the league. Before the match, the boss talked about Jack Grealish and what might happen to Rodri.

Guardiola tells Grealish to be careful.
Grealish is back from illness, but that doesn’t mean he will start right away for City.

Grealish came back from injury last week and came off the bench against Nottingham Forest. He then started in the Carabao Cup game against Newcastle to mark his return. Grealish was a key player at the end of last season. He started this season as the first pick on the wings, but Jeremy Doku has given him some new competition.

Doku has impressed fans when he has played so far this season. He scored a great goal against West Ham and looked good off the bench against Newcastle as City tried to score.

Guardiola hints that Rodri could be replaced
Guardiola has said that when he figures out how to replace Rodri against Wolves tomorrow, he will look for a person who is different from Rodri in some way.

The Spaniard has been banned for three games after getting a red card against Nottingham Forest last weekend. He is currently serving the second of those three games. Kalvin Phillips was always likely to play for Newcastle in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, but the England international has only played two Premier League games for the club, and both of those came after they won the title last season.

Phillips has a chance to keep his spot, but Mateo Kovacic or Matheus Nunes, who is coming back to Molineux for the first time since he left in a fight, could also be used there.
