Jamie Carragher believes the player Chelsea supposedly wants is actually holding his team back and says the team “will never win the league.”
Jamie Carragher believes that even with Aaron Ramsdale, who has been linked to Chelsea, starting in goal, Arsenal will not win the Premier League.
Chelsea is reportedly keeping an eye on Aaron Ramsdale following Mikel Arteta’s choice to bench the goalkeeper in favor of David Raya, according to the Daily Mail.
On Wednesday, Carragher stated on CBS Sports that “Arsenal will never win the league with Ramsdale in goal, no chance.” Ramsdale is unable to even break into the England squad despite playing for Arsenal.
Only in August did Chelsea acquire a new number one when they acquired Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion.
But given that Ramsdale’s future may now be in jeopardy, Chelsea might see an opening here.
Chelsea cannot win the league under Aaron Ramsdale.
Ramsdale will undoubtedly be unable to assist Chelsea in achieving their goal if he is unable to win the title for Arsenal.
That, though, has less to do with the England international’s skill and more to do with the situation the Blues are in right now.
Adding a second goalkeeper of Ramsdale’s caliber won’t change the fact that Chelsea is far from being a title contender.
At the moment, Mauricio Pochettino needs a clinical center-forward. Only five goals have been scored by his team in the Premier League this year.
Chelsea should give up on finishing in the top four with a goal total like that, demonstrating how far away they are from winning the championship.
Given that Arsenal is undoubtedly in a superior position, would Ramsdale even be interested in moving from the Emirates to Stamford Bridge? Perhaps not at this moment. But perhaps the former Sheffield United player will give it some thought if he is unable to regain his first-team berth.
