‘At least I’m better than their inexperienced and worthless John Stones’ Harry Maguire said in response to Manchester city supporters who mocked him for ruining Aaron Ramsdale’s clean sheet yesterday

Gareth Southgate, the manager of England, attacked Harry Maguire’s critics tonight, calling their treatment of the Manchester United center back “a joke.”

At Hampden this evening, Scotland’s friendly international game, Maguire, who has been stripped of United’s captaincy and told he has no future at Old Trafford, entered the game in the second half.

The defender was jeered whenever he touched the ball despite the fact that the visitors had a 2-0 lead when he entered the field, and he scored an own goal by turning an Andy Robertson cross into his own net.

Southgate, though, was inspired to hear the 59-time international player’s name sung by the visiting supporters during the 3-1 triumph and launched a fiery defense of the 30-year-old after the game.

He said, “From the standpoint of a Scotland supporter, I understand and have no problems about anything they did.

However, Harry’s treatment is the outcome of the absurd treatment he has endured for a considerable amount of time.

“I’ve never seen a player treated so poorly by our own pundits and commentators,” one fan said. I have a strong passion for it.

He has long been an important contributor to England’s most successful team. He has been a pillar and a rock, and the balls he has showed and exhibits each time he ventures outside are truly incredible. We’re everyone rooting for him because he’s a wonderful player.

Following the game, Harry was OK. He contributed significantly to our successful victory, and he handled the media in the same manner as usual. His character is evident in everything about him.

Southgate was delighted with England’s performance against Scotland despite receiving criticism after their 1-1 draw with Ukraine in a Euro 2024 qualifying match on Saturday in Poland.

“We wanted to give a controlled performance on the ball so we could quieten the fantastic atmosphere,” he said.

“We posed a real threat with our passing in behind, and our work without the ball was fantastic.” It resulted in a terrific performance and performance. Simply said, I think we did a great job. Scotland was no longer a threat, thanks to us.

Jude Bellingham did a great job. We anticipated that Scotland would face difficulties in that circumstance. If given the chance, their midfield can have an impact on games; we did not give them that chance.

Southgate said, “The Scottish supporters should be incredibly proud of the work Steve Clarke is doing and the advancements the squad has achieved.

“I’m sure there will be a reaction here to the result, but it’s important to understand that we’ve only had that reaction for three days since the Ukraine game.”
